Volunteer

Excitement abounds and history unfolds around you in an entertaining way when you volunteer to help with an event with the Siouxland Renaissance Association!  The Siouxland Renaissance Association (SRA) has many events we plan and participate in throughout the year.  Schools, youth groups, senior groups, clubs, festivals, and parades are examples of what you can enjoy and be a part of.  Do you enjoy dressing up in your Renaissance finery and gathering somewhere for a meal or a movie?  Then SRA garbed invasions are for you!  There is some event or activity for every person who is interested.  We have volunteer opportunities for the young as well as the young at heart.

When it’s time for our festival please come and volunteer! Work for part of the day and enjoy the rest of the day’s activities.  Learn what goes into making our festival the fun event it is and tell all your friends and family that YOU helped make it happen.

If the following opportunities sound interesting, please complete one of the forms and submit your contact information.  Tell us your preferences and we will match you to an opportunity destined to make you a member of our SRA family.  Come play in the past with us!

Court Character - you would be in garb and play a character based on a historical Renaissance figure of your choice (unless you would like help choosing) and interact with the patrons (ticket holders).  We do not script the Court but there might be a loose plan.

Volunteer Check in -  sit at a table, under a tent, near the participant gate and check in volunteers. Give them the participant favor that they need to wear to go in and out that gate, and assist with handing out garb for those who are "renting" from us.

Water wagon - We have water coolers placed throughout the site and the water wagon team fetches those coolers and refills them with water then returns them to where they were.  They also assist with ice deliveries to vendors who purchase ice from us.

Patron's Retreat -   There is a tent inside the expo building where patrons who purchase a patron package can sit and watch the entertainment and eat and drink.  Water and snacks are provided by the SRA.

Children's area - We have games for the kids to play and helpers there assist with the games.  Giant checkers, giant concentration, children's joust, etc.

Front gate - Take tickets and greet our guests. Thank them for coming when they leave.  Interact with everyone.

Security - You will peace tying weapons and taking info for people who bring their pets.  The security booth is centrally located on the festival grounds.

Board member assistant - Follow a board member and act as an assistant, running errands, keeping them on track if they are headed to a specific event, etc.

Site crew - Help the Site Goddess take care of anything that arises during the festival.
