Education

As people who love history, we also love sharing what we’ve learned. On this page, you can learn how to invite us to join your class or club or troop to demonstrate (and add color!).

You can also learn what we do at the Festival to offer activities for children and adults. If you are ready to get more involved we can provide resources and knowledge to help you learn more about the time and create your own persona - including garb!

You can find our handbook of renaissance information at the link below:

Inviting us to your event:

If you are a classroom teacher doing a Renaissance unit you might like to have us come to your school (within an hour or so of Sioux Falls) to help illustrate the history you are teaching. We offer programs on lifestyle, literature and storytelling, games and dance, and demonstrations of various kinds tailored to your needs. We’ve been invited to classrooms for elementary, middle and high school students as well as some college classrooms.

If you belong to a club that needs a program - we teach what we call stealth history. We can visit and discuss the six wives of Henry, show how Renaissance clothing works by undressing a lady (the result is family friendly!) or what weapons a pirate would carry vs what a knight would wield. We have presentations on food, castles, art, music and lots of other possibilities. All of these include laughter and fun as a major component.

If you have a scout troop or other youth group we have often brought activities to fill a meeting. We are very good at keeping young folks busy and learning in a fun interactive way.

We also can turn your award ceremony into a Renaissance extravaganza with fancy dress and fancy language.
