2011 Encampments

Bobbins and Lace
Lace making is a time honored tradition. Watch the flying fingers and bobbins of lacemakers as they create delicate patterns. You'll find them in the expo building

Andrew Leitheiser, Chainmail armourer
Protecting vital body parts has always been a concern of the fighting man. Watch Andrew weave chainmail one link at a time.

Alice the Cook
Feeding people without an electric oven required a different art. In addition to feeding the royal guard Alice will share recipes that translate well to the present century. Click here for Alice's web presence.

Royal Navy
Learn military strategy through a role playing game. Join the Royal Navy as the Spanish and English vye for superiority. Keep an eye out for Pirates!

Royal Guard
Keeping the person of Her Majesty the Queen safe is a life calling for some. They are always willing to train new and young recruits. If you are between the ages of six to fifteen you are invited to join the Royal Guard for their training sessions. See the festival schedule for exact times.

Society for Creative Anachronism
Taking re-enactment to another level members of the SCA try to live in the time period they are representing. You will see various demonstrations including hand to hand combat.

Quail Valley Farms Interactive Petting Zoo
Milking a goat, petting a lamb, watching a ram pull a cart and interacting with domestic animals will entertain many. We never know what young will be brought with the zoo, but there is always something interesting. (There is a nominal fee to visit the zoo). Click here to visit Quail Valley's web presence

Squires of Goethos
Riding a war horse is romantic, but it takes a crew of people to care for the horses, the armor and the list. When not occupied with the joust the squires are experts at firing war machines like Trebuchets and Catapults. They'll be on the south east corner of the grounds. Watch for them.

Claddagh Fianna
Combat is not free form, there actually is a form. You will learn much about it when Claddagh Fianna is on the education stage demonstrating their skills.

If you are interested in becoming involved with the festival as an encampment for 2012 please contact us.
